Deceptive Beauty

Pretty isn't it?

But if you look close you will see that the stem is full of thorns, very painful thorns if touched. This is a young plant and the thorns aren't as bad as on a mature plant where the thorns are much longer and thicker.

Some people are that way, they seem to be pleasant to be around but when you get too close to them, and find out more about them, they hurt you. Their looks are deceiving. They are fakes.

Satan is that way. He lures us in with his beauty, maybe enticing and enthralling us to get to close to what we should stay away from. He wants to trip us up and make us believe his lies. Satan makes us believe that trying a little of this or that, even though we know we shouldn't, won't harm us in any way. He lies to get us to do harm to ourselves. He makes us believe that things that will hurt us, whether physically, spiritually, or emotionally, are not going to harm us , and he makes us believe that we are not worthy to be loved by God. He only has this power, though, if we let him have it. We have to be strong in our faith, be in God's word so we know the truth when things come along that trip us up, and we have to stand strong and not be tempted or swayed.

Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14

Keep alert. Be firm in your faith. Stay brave and strong. Show love in everything you do.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
