Everything Has A Season
I am still having computer problems, so computer time has been almost zero this past week. It's been beautiful out, so I haven't missed it too much as I take in the last days of summer weather. I have picked probably five gallons of tomatoes this week, so that has been productive! It does seem that most of the plants in my yard know it's time for their reign to be over and no matter how much I tend to them, they are just dying back for the season. As I was out looking at everything today, it definitely seems to be time to just let most of the plants go. I was kind of sad, but know that each plant has it's time, and we cannot extend it when it knows it's time to go dormant for the year, or to be uprooted after a season of producing. It made me think of the following passage:
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

I feel part of the burden God has put on man today is to pray. To cry out for hearts to turn toward Him. To turn their hearts to an eternity with the One True God. Today is a battle in WA D.C. and we need to soldier-up God's warriors!
