Today, I wear pink. I wear pink in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Today I wear pink in honor and memory of my friend, Jenny. She has been on my mind a lot lately, and I really miss her words of encouragement, her love of life, and her inspiration. I went to her blog the other night, Mangy Moose, and just revisited some of her postings. I smiled and cried, as I thought of her. She lives on in so many hearts, and through her beautiful little girl, Grace.
Today I wear pink in honor of an aunt and three cousins who beat this terrible disease.
Today I wear pink, praying and hoping that my nieces generation will not have to live with the fear of breast cancer, because someone found a way to cure it.
Today I wear pink, and throughout the month I will wear pink, to honor all those who have been affected by breast cancer.
Today I wear pink as a reminder to get a mammogram. I wear it as a reminder do self exams. I wear it as a reminder to be educated and know the risk factors and the early signs. If you need a mammogram, GO GET ONE! I just got one in June and was in and out of there in less than an hour. Take a friend, your sister, your daughter, your mom with you and get checked! Many states offer free or reduced rate mammograms, so not being able to afford one is not an excuse. Early detection can save you.

Oh LLLH, my heart is missing Mangy's insight and love and encouragement too. All of us who knew Jenny were touched by her.
She is the one who encouraged me to start blogging. And at the time of her going to be with the Lord, God really awakened the passion and compassion in me to educate people about their health. Far too many are struggling with cancer and other maladies of ill-health.
Too many for me to remain passive on the subject. Please take the time to educate yourself. I mean really learn. I do not have all the answers, nor do I proclaim to know all about the healthcare industry, but I do know that God wants us to be the very best we can--for Him, for us, for our families, for the unreached.
So, when I see those pink ribbons, I too feel a sadness, but mine not only extends to those we have lost to the disease, but to those who haven't been exposed to some basic health principles that have been proven to reverse and/or prevent breast cancer.
Oh, do know that my tears run wet and hot and drip off my face with sadness for the loss of our dear friend, but do know that her passing has stirred something in me that God has given me--a heart and mind to educate those around me regarding health & nutrition.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
~ James 1:5
"Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
Exalt her, and she will promote you;
She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
She will place on your head an ornament of grace;
A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”
~ Proverbs 4:7-9
LLLH, this is me again, Aspire & Simple Raw Food Mamma. If anyone interested in this topic (nutrition & cancer), please go to my Simple Raw Health blog and enter "cancer dvd" into the search field. Take a few minutes to watch this clip and read the two postings.
