Giving

Yesterday afternoon was cold and wet. However, our home group had plans to meet at our leaders home to cut down a very large dead tree. We kept our plans and five families met to get the tree cut into firewood. It was cut it into lengths, split, and loaded up three trucks. We had some soup, then headed to a gals home who is having a hard time right now. When we arrived with the wood, she and her kids seemed a bit overwhelmed that we would bring her wood. All of us unloaded and stacked it and made quick work of unloading those trucks. The mom cried, a lot, because she hadn't gotten any wood yet. It took four hours to do all that work, which is great! Four hours to bless someone and help her through some hard times.

It always feels so good to help others out, especially when you expect nothing in return. Look around you and see the simple ways to give someone a needed hand today and instead of just talking about helping, actually do it. You will bless them, and you will be blessed as well.

You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it's a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it. ~Albert Schweitzer

“Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more” ~Anthony Robbins

That is the kind of giving I'd like my children to have this holiday season.
